Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ of TEFC,

As many of you know, the Elders met last night to pray and discuss how to proceed over the next couple of weeks dealing with the coronavirus/ COVID-19.  After some prayer and discussion the Elder Board unanimously believes it is best to comply with the recommendations of the CDC and President Trump.  So what does this mean for TEFC?  For the next couple of weeks we have suspended all of our weekly activities. This time period would put us to the end of March. Elders will meet again and decide what to do after that. We will be providing a video of the sermon through  Facebook page (Taylorville Evangelical Free Church) and our website (TEFC.net).  This will be available at the regular worship service time of 10:00 am on Sunday.  Also, if there is anyone who would prefer a cd of the service,we can deliver them a copy for free.

Let us remember that God is still in control.  Let our faith rest in Christ our Redeemer.  As the world seems a little crazy and out of control right now and people are panicking, let us remain in the Peace of God that surpasses all understanding.  Let us bring our prayers and petitions to the Lord and give thanks to Him.  Let us rest in God’s peace that guards our heart and mind in Christ. Like it says in Philippians 4:6-7:

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.   7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 5:7

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Let us surrender our anxiety, worries, and burdens to the Lord Jesus Christ.

I believe we have a great opportunity to show the love of God to others.  Let us remember that we are the church and we can serve others and show Christ’s love to others.  I would encourage each and every one of you to find a way to share Christ’s love with others during this time.  It might be as simple as calling someone and checking in on them, or delivering food to an elderly person that can’t get out.  There are countless ways to show Christ’s love and share the Good News of Jesus Christ.  As believers we are called to share the hope of Christ and live in faith not fear.  Let us stand in our hope and faith in Jesus Christ by being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to both our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and to those that need Jesus Christ as their Savior by serving like Jesus served.

Please feel free to call the church office (824-9473) if you have any questions.

In Christ,

Pastor Don Beetem
